Why budget matters
F1 Fantasy prices move based on how a pick performs relative to its cost. Catching price rises early — especially in the first 6–8 rounds — compounds into extra budget you can later spend on elite drivers.
How to use it
In the Optimizer, choose the Budget Builder strategy. It favours strong points-per-million picks that our model expects to rise in price, balancing this-week points with asset growth. The Season tab's price trackers show who's trending up or down.
Worked example: when a price rise helps
Illustrative numbers, not a current price forecast. You have $0.3M in the bank and want a future swap that costs $0.7M more. If the pick you plan to sell rises $0.5M while the target's price stays unchanged, that swap's extra cost falls to $0.2M, within your bank. A rise in a pick you keep does not add cash to your bank. The rise only helps once it has actually happened; it cannot fund a transfer before the current deadline.
Now suppose choosing that appreciating pick costs eight projected points this round. A possible $0.5M rise does not automatically justify the sacrifice: it must unlock enough later points to compensate, and you may need another paid transfer to spend it. With fewer races remaining there are fewer opportunities to recover those points.
A practical decision sequence
- Identify a specific future upgrade and its affordability gap.
- Compare the points you would give up now, including any paid transfers.
- Inspect price-change probabilities rather than treating the most likely bracket as certain.
- Use the Multi-Week Planner or the optimizer's Points vs Budget mode to judge whether the extra spending power has time to earn those points back.
